Doug Weed
Douglas Weed is the third-generation owner and President & CEO of New Hope Mills Manufacturing, a historic family-owned business with roots dating back more than 200 years. Founded in 1823 as a flour mill along Bear Swamp Creek in Niles, New York, the company has grown through generations of perseverance, innovation, and dedication to quality food production.
Doug purchased the company in 2013 from his father, Dale Weed, continuing a family legacy that began when his grandfather, Leland Weed, acquired the mills in 1947. Having grown up in the business, Doug worked nearly every job imaginable—from shoveling grain and emptying trash to learning the operational side of manufacturing—experiences that shaped his servant-leadership approach and deep appreciation for the company’s employees and history.
Under Doug’s leadership, New Hope Mills Manufacturing has expanded its reach while maintaining its commitment to tradition and quality. Operating from its Auburn, New York facility, the company produces pancake and waffle mixes, baking products, hot chocolate, and specialty foods under the New Hope Mills label as well as for private customers. The company also operates a dedicated gluten-free production facility and employs approximately 50 full- and part-time staff members.
In recognition of its impact and growth, New Hope Mills Manufacturing was named Rural Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Syracuse District.
Doug and his wife, Sara, live in Moravia, New York, and are the proud parents of four children.
