Guest Speaker: Jim Ballard
Join us for lunch Thursday, May 7th at the Hilton Garden Inn to hear Jim Ballard, Jim Ballard is a respected Nebraska entrepreneur, community leader, and steward of local heritage, best known as the co‑founder and owner of "From Nebraska" Gift Shop and James Arthur Vineyards, one of Nebraska’s most beloved wineries.
Jim Ballard had a hunch. The many customers of James Arthur Vineyards are glad he followed it. Jim thought his father-in-law’s farmland, situated north of Lincoln, Nebraska, was fertile ground for growing grapes. With his father-in-law’s blessing, Jim planted several grapevines with the hope that his hobby would someday produce fine homemade wine and something to share with family and friends. It did, and Jim’s hobby took a new twist. James Arthur Vineyards opened five years later.
A former broadcast journalist and Master’s graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln In Journalism; Jim is JAV’s head winemaker and still helps with the winery’s daily operations and special events. His goal is to produce award-winning Nebraska wine while providing guests to James Arthur Vineyards with an experience that is educational, exciting and interesting.
Jim currently serves as a Deacon at Calvery Community Church, is Chair of the Nebraska Grape and Wine Board, is a member of the Lancaster County Republican Party’s Central Committee and is co-host of LIBA’s Business Beat Podcast, while also serving on LIBA’s Advisory Board and PAC committee. He is also a long suffering Kansas City Royals and Nebraska Basketball fan. But most importantly, he has been married to his lovely bride Barb for nearly 40 years and has three beautiful children, Benjamin, Beau and Edyn.
Join us for lunch and be inspired by Jim Ballards’s insightful and encouraging message!
