Our Sage for the Evening: Alan Barnes
Sage details:
Alan is a native of Cincinnati (therefore, a loyal lifelong fan of the Reds). He graduated from Purdue University (therefore a Boilermaker) with a degree in Industrial Management and moved to Houston to find warmer weather and a better economy. Finding both hot weather and a strong economy driven by the energy crisis of that era, Alan embarked on a 29-year career with Accenture, the global management and technology company, where he was a partner for twelve years, living a nomadic existence traveling extensively to exotic locations (i.e. India, the Philippines, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela) and non-exotic locations (Ft Smith Arkansas; Mobile, Alabama, Newport News, Virginia) while also living extensively in Europe (Frankfurt, and London twice). He worked with leading companies such as ExxonMobil, BP, Glaxo, and Dupont in global transformation programs and managed Accenture’s 2,000+-person Technology Delivery Center Network in the Americas.
Alan shifted at life’s halftime to supporting ministries and non-profits in West Charlotte, bringing resources and experiences to support underserved youth and families. Areas of emphasis include discipleship, youth mentoring, music, sports, and literacy.
In addition to a love for sports and music Alan is grounded thru a small nuclear family including Domonique, his wife of 36+ years who he was introduced to on a blind date by her father, and daughter Sydney who graduated from Charlotte Christian School and the University of Tennessee and is now married and living and working in Charlotte.
